Coca‑Cola HBC Austria is starting to use the power of the sun to a greater extent, commissioning the largest photovoltaic system in Burgenland with almost 3 megawatt peak (MWp) output on the roof of its production and logistics center in Edelstal. The plant was built by Selina Photovoltaic GmbH.

For one day, the employees of Coca‑Cola Austria were travelling the Donau-Auen National Park to clear the area from waste. Numerous filled garbage bags, collected bulky waste and three kilometres of cleared waterfront speak for the success of the symbolic action within the initiative "World Without Waste".

In 2017, Coca‑Cola HBC Austria has taken another step towards a World Without Waste — a goal recently announced by The Coca‑Cola Company’s CEO James Quincey. The bottler has set ambitious and long-term goals for itself. These goals and their implementation are documented in the latest sustainability report. For the first time, the report was created and reviewed according to the new Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. In cooperation with the Public Employment Service (Arbeitsmarktservice) Austria, Coca‑Cola HBC Austria has launched the initiative #YouthEmpowered in order to open up new perspectives for unemployed young people. The goal for Austria is to mentor 3,500 young people by 2020 and to improve their chances on the job market. More than 100 employees of the Vienna location are already involved.
